  • Open the battery compartment of the battery-operated rechargeable device. Many devices have battery compartment covers that slide off or unhinge 
  • Insert the rechargeable batteries into the device. Close the battery compartment. Power on the device and use it until the batteries are drained. The device may suddenly shut off or notify you that the batteries are low 
  • Open the battery compartment and remove the batteries. Insert the drained batteries into the battery charger 
  • Plug the battery charger into a wall outlet. Look for a status light on the charger that will light up when powered. If the light does not come on, try another wall outlet. Note that some chargers may lack a status light or the charger may still work even if the light malfunctions 
  • Leave the charger plugged in overnight or for a few hours. Unplug the charger. Remove the batteries and insert them into a battery-operated device. Attempt to use the device. If the device functions, the battery charger successfully charged the batteries

  • Place your batteries into the charger. Place the raised knob on the top of the battery onto the positive terminal and the flat base of the battery onto the negative terminal. The terminals on the batteries and charger are labeled "+" for positive and "-" for negative
  • Replace the battery charger cover. Either clip it in place using your fingers or insert the screw and tighten using a screwdriver
  • Insert the plug on the end of the battery charger into the plug socket. Turn on the charger and let your multiple batteries charge until full then turn off the charger. Remove the batteries when you need to use them
